If you would be given a chance to visit Venice during the Renaissance period using a "time machine," who would you want to befriend among the characters of Act 1 and why?
If I would have the chance to go to Venice, I would definitely look for Shylock first and befriend him (if he would let me because I'm a Christian). I would like to personally find out myself whether he is really evil as portrayed in the story or whether he is just bad because the society made him one. I'm also interested to know how they got discriminated by Venetians and whether it is really true that they got so much "profit" from the Christians despite their situation. More than that, I am actually hoping that there's something more about his personality-- something GOOD that was just overshadowed by the "romantic" characters in the story.

I'd like to meet Shylock too! Siya lang naman ata interesting na character dun sa First Act. :)) I'd like to see what he's really like. Srsly, I think he's such a stereotyped character it's not that believable anymore.
i want to befriend antonio. it's fun to see how he uses his money with his shipping business and experience how dependable he is as a friend because there are very few people these days who could still spend time with you even if they have their own worries.
Shylock is the guy to meet. I was always curious about the Jews. How they were discriminated but they make the most money and actually help the society. Plus standing next to a rich Jewish man can actually help me in math. :3
Many find Shylock interesting, but I think Nerissa's more my type. She may be just the type of character who would just blend in the background but I think there's more to her than what meets the eye :) After being discussed about her in class, I want to look forward to her more. ~jeline m. II - 2
I want to meet Shylock. He is a kind of person that makes me believe in myself more. He is a kind of person that makes me reach for my goals in life. So like, Shylock is a person that you want to befriend for you to change and for you to trust yourself more.
whoa, everyone's answering Shylock. xD hmm, in my opinion, I want to befriend Nerissa because I think she's the type of person who'll be willing to listen to you and at the same time, understand what you're saying. She also gives good advices and you'll really know that she understands you. :)
